The iGovPhil Project officially adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as the accessibility standard for all its related web development and services. WCAG 2.0 is also an international standard, ISO 40500. This certifies it as a stable and referenceable technical standard.

WCAG 2.0 contains 12 guidelines organized under 4 principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR for short). There are testable success criteria for each guideline. Compliance to these criteria is measured in three levels: A, AA, or AAA. A guide to understanding and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 is available at: https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/

All iGovPhil Project services and content are currently moving towards WCAG Level A compliance. Work is being done to make the system fully compliant with this level.

Online Application for Board Examination Now in Tacloban

The Online Application System made waves in Tacloban today as nursing graduates of the St. Scholastica’s College successfully tested the new online system of submitting applications for the nurse licensure examination (NLE) on June 30 to July 1, 2012. St. Scholastica’s College was the first college in Tacloban to use the OAS following the launching of the system at the PRC-Tacloban office on May 6, 2012.

On the first day of the deployment of the OAS at the PRC-Tacloban office, two nursing graduates of the Western Leyte College of Ormoc City, Inc. submitted their applications through the OAS kiosk of PRC. Asked for comment on the OAS after securing their Notice of Admission, Rhona Q. Tabay and Ma. Eurina Anne C. Tapitan both said they were greatly satisfied with the OAS because the system has made the application process easier and faster especially for those who, like them, have to travel a great distance to apply for the nurse licensure examination. They vowed to inform their classmates of the benefits of the OAS. Both are shown holding their Notices of Admission with Director German Palabyab. Inset is the OAS testing at the St. Scholastica’s College.
