The iGovPhil Project officially adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as the accessibility standard for all its related web development and services. WCAG 2.0 is also an international standard, ISO 40500. This certifies it as a stable and referenceable technical standard.

WCAG 2.0 contains 12 guidelines organized under 4 principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR for short). There are testable success criteria for each guideline. Compliance to these criteria is measured in three levels: A, AA, or AAA. A guide to understanding and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 is available at: https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/

All iGovPhil Project services and content are currently moving towards WCAG Level A compliance. Work is being done to make the system fully compliant with this level.

Professional IDs at SM Malls in 20 days

Manila, January 2013 – The Professional Regulation Commission today announced that the Professional Identification Cards (PICs) applied for at all SM Malls nationwide will be released in 20 working days beginning January 17, 2013.

The Commission recently decided on the longer period for the release of the PICs as a temporary measure while maintenance and enhancement work on its online systems and the installation of an Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) are underway. The systems upgrade seeks to strengthen the reliability and security of PRC information technology (IT) infrastructure and ensure the prompt delivery of PRC online services.

The Commission assures the public that the seven (7) working day processing time for PIC renewal at the malls will be resumed as soon as the systems upgrade is completed by the middle or late part of February.

PRC is asking the public’s understanding for the temporary inconvenience.
