PRC Joins PICE XVII Midyear Conference and Anniversary Celebration
Posted on 25 June, 2025

SULTANATE OF OMAN - 05 June 2025, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) participated and joined forces with the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) in partnership with the Philippine Professionals Organization – Sultanate of Oman (PPO-SO) during its 2025 Midyear Conference and Anniversary Celebration marking a significant collaboration aimed at advancing the Civil Engineering profession in the Philippines.

With a theme: “Engineering Synergies 2025 – Leadership, Project Management and Sustainability on a Resilient Built Environment”, the PRC positively reaffirms its commitment to professional development, regulatory excellence, and nation-building as this undertaking underscores a shared mission to strengthen professional standards and elevate the Civil Engineering Profession.

Representing the PRC was Atty. Melisa Jane Comafay-Yeachana, Director of the International Affairs Office (IAO). Director Yeachana highlighted PRC’s functions, as a government agency mandated to regulate and supervise professional practice in the Philippines, ensuring that the Filipino Professionals in local and international fora adhere to the highest standards of competence and ethics. The PRC, through its International Affairs Office, facilitates the active participation of professionals in regional and international frameworks, through the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs), which cover the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) and ASEAN Architect (AA) programs and engagements in the APEC Engineer and Architect Registers.

This serves as the PRC’s link to foreign regulatory agencies, creating bridges for global mobility and cross-border recognition of professional qualifications. By participating in PICE’s midyear conference, the PRC reinforced its support for continuing education and specialization, key themes in PICE’s 2025 agenda under the leadership of its National President, Engr. Ador G. Canlas.

The event also recognized PICE’s legacy as the only accredited professional organization for civil engineers in the Philippines since 1975 and its important role in bridging industry and regulatory needs, particularly on Advocacy for ethical practice, Specialization, and Innovation, and international engagements.

With this, the PRC invites all qualified Filipino Registered Engineers and Architects in Oman to apply for registration as ASEAN and APEC Registers, collectively uplifting not only the individual engineers and architects, but also the reputation of Filipino expertise on the world stage.

This event, a vibrant gathering of engineers, builders, and leaders, is more than a celebration. It is a launchpad for future partnerships, innovations, and shared success.
