PRC Foreign Mobile Service: Courtesy Call of the PRC Team with the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Philippines in Doha, Qatar
Doha, Qatar – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) delegation, led by Director Raquel R. Abrantes, Region XI - Davao City attended the Courtesy Call of the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Philippines in Doha, State of Qatar, His Excellency, Mardomel Celo D. Melicor on 23 July 2025 at the Philippine Embassy in Doha, Qatar, a preparatory activity to PRC's Foreign Mobile Service in said country.
Joining Dir. Abrantes are Dir. Reynaldo V. Cristobal of Regional IV-A – Lucena City, OIC-Director Mr. Ronald G. Watson of National Capital Region (NCR), and other PRC employees.
Welcoming the participating Philippine National Government Agencies (NGAs), including PRC to the Bagong Bayani – OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Doha, Qatar, H.E. Ambassador Melicor particularly extended its gratitude to PRC for participating in the Caravan through its foreign mobile services and also in the administration of the Oath-Taking Ceremony for new passers which is set on 23 July 2025 at the Philippine School Doha.
As presented to the Philippine Embassy, the PRC services to be offered will include: Initial Registration, Renewal and/or Duplication of Professional Identification Card (PIC), Application for Licensure Examination, Issuance of Certifications and/or Authentication of PRC-issued documents, Application for Registration under Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA), and other services. This will be the first mobile service by PRC in Qatar following the successful conduct of the same in other countries such Australia, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia and Dubai.
Discussed during the courtesy call is the request of the Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) for intervention in the form of upskilling and further training to enhance the qualifications of professionals—particularly those electronic technicians—with the goal of enabling them to qualify for higher-level positions within their companies.
In response, the team emphasized the PRC's thrust to promote and expand Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) for the engineering and architecture professions in Qatar with the goal of including other professions.
Conveyed also was the PRC's intention to initiate discussions with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) regarding the request of the Embassy and MWO, to identify opportunities for targeted skills development and training programs.
Joining the PRC team with Dir. Abrantes are Dir. Reynaldo V. Cristobal of Regional IV-A – Lucena City, OIC-Director Mr. Ronald G. Watson of National Capital Region (NCR), and other selected PRC employees.
The PRC is set to continue providing its services through the OFW Serbisyo Caravan at the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) until 26 July 2025.
