The iGovPhil Project officially adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as the accessibility standard for all its related web development and services. WCAG 2.0 is also an international standard, ISO 40500. This certifies it as a stable and referenceable technical standard.

WCAG 2.0 contains 12 guidelines organized under 4 principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR for short). There are testable success criteria for each guideline. Compliance to these criteria is measured in three levels: A, AA, or AAA. All iGovPhil Project services and content are currently moving towards WCAG Level A compliance. Work is being done to make the system fully compliant with this level.

February 2010 Mining Engineer Licensure Examination results released

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 7 out of 26 passed the Mining Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Mining Engineering in Manila this February 2010.

A Special/Temporary Permit (S/PT) or Certificate of Exemption (CE) was granted to Engr. Gary Lee Leighton to practice Mining Engineering in the Philippines without registration as per R. A. No. 4274, subject to compliance with Sec. 13 thereof and Sec. 7 (j) and (l) of R. A. 8981, cited as the “PRC Modernization Act of 2000”.

The members of the Board of Mining Engineering are Cornelio Q. Casido, Chairman; Rufino B. Bomasang and Augusto C. Villaluna, Members.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 but not later than March 15, 2010. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Legend Villas, Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City.

Registration for membership with the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) will take place after registration as a professional with the Board and the Commission.
