MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Career Progression and Specialization Program – Credit Accumulation and Transfer System (CPSP-CATS) Committee for Guidance Counselors and the Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and Counseling (PRB-OGC) successfully conducted its Stakeholders’ Consultation on Saturday, 24 May 2025 at St. Scholastica’s College, Malate, Manila.

Leading the stakeholders’ consultation were Hon. Carmelita P. Pabiton, Chairperson of the CPSP-CATS Committee for Guidance Counselors and Member of the PRB-OGC, and Hon. Luzviminda S. Guzman, Chairperson of the PRB-OGC and Member of the CPSP-CATS Committee for Guidance Counselors, along with the esteemed CPSP-CATS Committee Members: Dr. Adelaida C. Gines and Dr. Evangeline P. Aguilan. Joining them, was the CPSP-CATS Consultant, Ms. Perla Gonzales-Po, whose insights and professional expertise have greatly enriched the discussions.

The consultation was efficiently facilitated by the CPSP-CATS Secretariat. The presentation focuses on the discussion of the draft Resolution on the creation of a CPSP for the Guidance and Counseling profession; along with the proposed Professional Practice Outcomes in the Level Alignment Matrix of the following Specializations: Counseling Supervision and Leadership, Family, Marital, Couple and Relationship Counseling, and Psychosocial Counseling.

With the initiatives and efforts of the CDSP-CATS Committee together with the knowledge and expertise of the participants, the consultation served as a platform that showcased the Guidance and Counseling profession’s commitment to elevating practice standards in line with global standards through defined specialization pathways. The active engagement and valuable contributions of stakeholders also marked a pivotal step toward building a dynamic, competency-based framework that supports the continuous professional growth of Filipino Guidance Counselors.

The Professional Regulation Commission through Assistant Commissioner and Oversight for CPSP-CATS, L. Louis P. Valera, expresses its gratitude to the industry professionals, educators, and experts who participated and contributed their expertise to help shaping the future of the Guidance and Counseling profession in the country.
