The grand launching of the “Centenary Year of the Philippine Accountancy Profession” was conducted last March 17, 2022. The event marked the start of the year-long celebration to commemorate the 100th years anniversary of the accountancy profession in the Philippines, which will begin on March 18, 2022 and culminate on March 17, 2023 pursuant to Proclamation No. 1333 by the President of the Philippines.
This year’s celebration centers on the theme “Celebrating the Past, Transforming the Present, Shaping the Future”, wherein various activities will be jointly participated by the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Accountancy, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountant (PICPA), and all four sectoral organizations-- public practice, commerce and industry, education/academe, and government service, of the Accountancy profession.
Present during the launching were PRB Members Hon. Chairman Noe G. Quiñanola, Hon. Vice-Chairperson Thelma S. Ciudadano, Hon. Members Samuel B. Padilla, Gloria T. Baysa, Gervacio I. Piator, Maria Teresita Z. Dimaculangan, and Rosalinda D. Evangelista; PRC Commissioner, Hon. Jose Y. Cueto, Jr., Energy Regulatory Commission Commissioner, Hon. Marko Romeo L. Fuentes, and Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman, Hon. Emilio B. Aquino, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
Meanwhile, PRC Hon. Chairman Teofilo S. Pilando Jr. and former Senator and Chairman of Villar Group of Companies Manny Villar graced the occasion thru videoconferencing.
Indeed, the abovementioned launching is a very important milestone for Filipino Certified Public Accountants, who through the years, remain steadfast in the exercise of their profession while contributing immeasurably to the development of the nation.
